About:
Quite Scientific is an independent record label based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Founded in 2006 by Justin Spindler, and brothers Brian and Jeremy Peters, it all started out with a simple idea to release some compilations of local acts in an effort to shine a light upon the talent within southern Michigan's music scene. Overnight it seems, QuiSci ( /kwī-sī/) evolved into the full fledged indie imprint that it is today (though we still haven't gotten around to putting out those comps). Though we have grown to include many artists from outside of the Michigan area, we still find ourselves focusing on the Midwest musicians, aesthetic, and general good atmosphere that seems to permeate the air surrounding the Great Lakes; we have beards, wear plaid, and enjoy a band that doesn't take themselves too seriously.

How did QuiSci get its name?
The name Quite Scientific, often shortened to QuiSci ( /kwī-sī/), was simply the product of Brian Peters' thinking that the phrase had a nice ring to it. He was once a physics major in college - so that may help explain things a bit too.

Can I please send QuiSci a demo?
Well, since you asked so nicely... we're up to listen to anything. We like digital demos more than actual hard-copies though (heck, you'll save some postage too). Please use the Demo Submission Form on our Contact Page. You'll be asked to send along a link to some streamable audio (we prefer BandCamp or SoundCloud), a bit about yourself, what you think makes your project unique, and how being released on QuiSci would help you achieve your goals. Please Note: We do indeed receive EVERY single demo submission submitted via Demo Submission Form, and we read/listen to MOST of them, however we respond to very FEW of them. Rest assured, if we love what we hear AND are interested AND are able to work with you given our current release schedule/budget/constraints/etc., we'll be writing you back.

Has QuiSci ever signed a band via demo submission?
Nope. We'll be very honest with you here and say that actually - we most often look to work with bands that have been suggested to us by our current roster of artists and/or colleagues. To date, we've never worked with a band we first heard via a demo submission.

How do I apply to intern at QuiSci?
Sorry, but QuiSci is not looking for interns, nor do we offer an internship program at this time.

How do I apply to work at QuiSci?
Sorry, but QuiSci is not hiring at this time.

Where can I buy QuiSci releases?
You can find our releases at most any digital retailer (iTunes, eMusic, Amazon, Spotify etc..), and at your favorite locally owned Ma & Pop record shops (though you may need to ask them to special order releases). I'd like to use a QuiSci artists' song in a student film/project - is that kosher?
We're usually up for anything, especially when it's for educational purposes - but to err on the side of caution, we ask you contact us and clear any usages beforehand. You can use the Music Usage Request Form on our Contact Page, and we'll get right back to you.

I'd like to open for/add one of QuiSci's artists to a show - how do I hook that up?
We do not handle the booking for our artists. If you'd like to play a show with one of our artists you'll need to contact them, or their booking agents directly.

I'd like to re-use a picture/art/text from your site on my site - is that cool?
Of course, as long as the usage remains digital only, permission granted. Though please give credit where credit it due.
